Newman Hall Renovation

Newman Hall is located within a section of one of the historic buildings at Saint Meinrad that was constructed in the early 1900s. Following a series of related renovations on campus, also completed by Hafer, Newman Hall became the final phase of the projects that resulted from "The Call of Saint Meinrad" campaign. This project consisted of repurposing five floors within a historic building, making minor exterior improvements and updating the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to create a more energy efficient building.

Improvements included the Scholar Shop bookstore, classrooms, conference rooms, the IT Department and photography-video studio, a counseling center, and the Spiritual Formation Department. A wellness center was created on the first floor complete with weightlifting and fitness equipment, a locker room and showers, and a large exercise classroom. Newman Hall also has four apartments and a laundry area that can be used by faculty.

Renovating Newman Hall has had a far reaching impact for Saint Meinrad Archabbey. It has helped with their initial and ongoing formation of priests, permanent deacons, and laity to minister together effectively in the Roman Catholic Church throughout the world.
